I cannot believe Charlotte is 3 months old today! Time slow down! This month was full of so many changes, every day gets better and we really are having so much fun enjoying this season of life.
Right after she turned two months old, we started venturing out more which was great for my sanity. Being at home so much definitely makes you a little crazy. This month we took our first road trip to Dallas, about 2 hours away from home! Packing for this trip was daunting! I tried to pack only the things she really needed and our car was so full! She did so great in the car and I think this is partly because she loves her Nuna Pipa carseat. We were gone for three nights and the first night she did great but the second two nights were really rough. While I went to the Taylor Swift concert, Lee was watching her at our hotel by himself and he said she cried basically the whole time I was gone. Every time I checked in he would say she was great because he wanted me to have fun and not be worried! I felt so bad for him the next morning when he told me how rough it was.
The next night we had a family wedding to go to and it was rough! During the reception she was crying a lot and I think she was wayyy over stimulated and we just didnt realize it. She was in her second leap, which says being passed around a lot to strangers will make them upset and there was a lot of that going on. We ended up feeding her too much (I think) and she threw up the most insane amount all over Lee, his dad, and herself. It was SO BAD! We basically ran out of the wedding and as soon as we hit the parking lot, Lee just started dying laughing. What else can you do?! We got back to the hotel and she cried for probably a solid hour. We tried literally everything, she didnt want to be nursed, gripe water didnt help, etc! Finally she fell asleep and luckily slept a solid 8+ hours.
I am telling this story because I want to share the good, the bad and the ugly!! Not just the good! Two weeks later we went to Fort Worth for the weekend and she was an absolute CHAMP! She was perfect and rolled with the flow. I almost didnt go because I was nervous about it and I am so glad I did because I would’ve missed out on all of the fun! Moral of the story: if at first you don’t succeed, try try again! 🙂
So much fun in Fort Worth. We took her on her first campus visit to TCU! 🙂
Changes
The biggest change this month is that I went back to work. I am only working 3 days a week for a few hours, but it has definitely been a challenge. I really wanted to go back to work because I enjoy it and because it gives me something to do that is separate from being a mom. There is some definite mom guilt but I think it has been really good for me and will be good for Charlotte too! My mom watches Charlotte which is such a blessing! I definitely miss her while I’m working but it has helped me be more present and focused on her when we are together.
Charlotte has changed so much over the past month! She is so interactive with us, smiles at us, laughs, it is the best! She is happiest in the mornings and so smiley. She still loves to cuddle and be held all the time. She absolutely loves going on walks. If she is fussy, fresh air works like magic. She never cries while we are out on walks. She is staying awake during the day a lot longer than she was last month and definitely needs more entertainment than she did before. She wants to play a lot more! She also loves putting her hands in her mouth all of a sudden and is constantly sucking on her hands.
Favorite Products
She is OBSESSED with this piano I got here. This may be my new number 1 gift I give people. This little toy keeps her so entertained and helps me do things like brush my teeth before lunch time (some days its seriously hard)! It may be the best money I have ever spent! She also loves toys with faces that play music like this one from Target. We are still constantly using all of the products I talked about in this blog post. We used the Nuna Tavo stroller for our trips and absolutely loved it. It has a one click fold so it makes it super easy for travel and I can easily lift it in and out of the car, plus her carseat clicks right into it!
Schedule
We have been on a much better schedule this month and she is sleeping 8-12 hours a night consistently. Her schedule is always evolving, and depending on when she wakes up really determines how the entire day goes. Because she is sleeping so long at night, she is wanting to feed every 2 hours during the day. If she is taking a long nap I don’t wake her to stay on the schedule.
Her feed schedule is typically 8:00 AM/ 10:00 AM/ 12:00 PM/ 2:00 PM / 4:00 PM / 6:00 PM/ 8:00 PM / 10:00 PM
Around this time she started wanting to go to bed at 8 PM but would still wake up for the 10 PM feed and then go straight back to sleep. Around 10-11 weeks old she dropped the 10 PM feed and goes to bed at 8 and stays asleep typically until 8 the next morning! She is still sleeping in our room in her bassinet but we are going to transition her to her crib this week.
How I’m Feeling
This past month has all-in-all been really fun. We are so lucky that she is a good sleeper! There are definitely times when I have felt like I have no idea what I’m doing and am the worst mother (like our first trip I talked about earlier), and there are times where I feel like an absolute rockstar! Every day is different but I feel like we are in a rhythm and being in a routine has helped so much! I am still 10 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight and this past month I have slowly started working out again. I have definitely struggled with feeling confident but I know it takes time! It took 9 months to make Charlotte and I know I need to give myself some grace! 🙂
I am so thankful for our sweet baby girl and am trying to soak up every second of each stage she is in. Thanks to all of you that have sent me so many sweet messages!
If you have any questions or any advice, I would love to hear from y’all in the comments below!
