To be honest, starting solids was a pretty overwhelming concept for me. I had no idea what babies are supposed to eat, how often, or where to even begin! I knew I didn’t want to go the rice cereal route and started doing some research.
I wanted to do Baby Led Weaning, but was a little intimidated to fully commit to that. If you don’t know what Baby Led Weaning is (BLW for short), there is a book all about it that you can read. BLW method skips purees and you put food in front of them for them to pick up and learn to eat on their own. We started with pureed food and also would give her foods cut into strips (easier for her to grasp) that were soft like bananas, avocado, eggs and sweet potato.
Instead of buying a baby food maker, I googled recipes and would either use my blender or immersion blender to make my own purees. As much as I wish I could home make every single thing Charlotte eats, I just don’t always have time! I was so excited when Little Spoon reached out to partner together because we love their products! They deliver right to your door with 80+ organic, locally-sourced ingredients (no preservatives, additives or stabilizers!). Charlotte absolutely loves it, and it has been perfect to send with her when my mom watches her while I work
There are a ton of different feeding related products out there and it was pretty overwhelming to figure out what we would really use. We love our Stokke high chair, it can be used for years to come and is really easy to clean. I tried a bunch of different sippy cups and am sticking with this one. It’s supposed to be the best and it took Charlotte a little bit to figure out but now she can drink from it by herself. I also tried a ton of different spoons, bibs, etc. Linking all of our favorites below!
A huge resource for me has been Madaleigh’s Blog. This post was super helpful to me, and she has highlights saved on her Instagram of what to feed your baby based on how old they are. It has helped me so much with recipe ideas and meal prepping for the week! Another helpful Instagram account is @feedinglittles.
It is so much fun seeing the hilarious faces Charlotte makes when trying new foods. She still does it at 10 months old! Let me know in the comments any food tips or tricks you have!

Laura
